In short

HomeWalk works without an account and without the internet. Your room, your walks and your settings stay on your headset. Two things can leave it: the web pages you choose to open in the built-in browser (as with any browser), and, only if you turn on the optional leaderboards, a nickname and a summary of each walk sent to this server. No ads, no selling of data, no tracking across apps.

What stays on the headset

• The room layout from your Quest's Space Setup (floor, walls, furniture, room mesh). It is read in memory only, to plan the walking route, and is never uploaded.
• Your head position while you walk. It is used to count distance and steps and is never uploaded.
• Your walk history, levels, badges, settings, and the weight and height you may enter (used only to estimate calories).
• Your site tiles (a name and an address each) and the browser's own data: cookies and site storage, so the sites you sign in to keep you signed in.

The built-in browser

When you open a site, that site receives what any browser sends it: your IP address, the page you asked for, its cookies and what you type into its pages. Each site handles that data under its own privacy policy. HomeWalk keeps no list of the pages you visit and does not store what you type into pages; the browser keeps cookies, site storage and a cache, like any browser. The browser has no access to your microphone or camera.

Leaderboards (optional, off until you join)

If you join the leaderboards in Settings → Online, the app sends this server:

• A nickname you choose. No real name, e-mail, Meta account or device identifier is required or collected.
• For each finished walk: start and end time, active time, distance, steps, estimated calories, average speed, laps, the route type and the app version (plus a few fields of an earlier game feature that are always empty).
• Your time-zone offset (so daily quests match your day) and when you last used online features.
• Your IP address is used briefly to stop abuse (rate limiting) and is not stored with your account.

It is used to show the leaderboards (your nickname, level and weekly XP or distance are visible to other HomeWalk players unless you turn off "Show me on leaderboards"), to compute your level, to detect cheating, and as aggregated statistics (for example the number of daily players) to improve the app.

Keeping and deleting data

Walk summaries on the server are kept while your account exists. Settings → Online → "Delete my online data" deletes your account and every walk on the server immediately; leaving the leaderboards stops all uploads. Uninstalling HomeWalk deletes everything it stored on the headset, including the browser's cookies and site data. You can also ask for deletion by e-mail: homewalk@zurlabs.org.

Security

All traffic to this server is encrypted (HTTPS). Account tokens are stored only as hashes. The administration panel is protected by a password, optional two-factor codes, rate limits and an audit log.

Meta

HomeWalk runs on Meta Quest and is distributed through the Meta Horizon Store. Meta's own privacy policy covers the headset, your Meta account and the store.

Children

HomeWalk follows Meta's age requirements for Quest. Leaderboards show only a chosen nickname; do not use your real name.
